Oh bejeebies, this story had my head just a spinning and Heart pounding! This is a Tales from the Dark Side for sure!Im tell you what Aleatha Romig can twist a tale that will have you just beating your head on the table in the end and I am not joking!
This is a story and it's a whammie of a story, you read the blurb so I am not going to tell you much more than that other than it's really dark and erotic and it's one of those what will you do for your family your beloved sister? What if you do not love your entire family, if you hate your parents even if they are not both your real parents? Then for yourself, to survive? This is about human monsters, predators I would call them that walk in daylight that you have no ideal they are truly monsters but then you keep reading and you decide that you don't truly know who really is the monster! If my life ever became something such as this I do not know what I would do just as Victoria/Tori/Vic (yes she goes by all these names) does when she becomes married and owned by Stewart at a young 18. He is a handsome older widowed and very rich Miami Mongrel is what I thought of him but through the dark twists and turns, mystery and oh the secrets the secrets that are not told until a web has been strung so tight and when it's strung tightly what does it do? It breaks and it tumbles so recklessly that I felt like I was falling with it! At this time I am so unsure of what I feel for Stewart I think its pity! I'm not going to spoil this book for you but just know if you have never read a book by Aleatha Romig than you never know what to expect so dont get comfortable at all because as soon as you do she flips the page and it starts being something totally different even down to the very last page! This ending oh this ending had me wanting so SCREAM really really bad words! But I will tell you this Stewart gets his and Victoria well she gets some and more so much more!
If you like a good dark exotic read then this will blow your mind! One Click and read it now before the next book comes out in from the Tales from the Dark Side! And you have not read the Consequences series please do so its a dark read as well and it's an in depth dark read that I LOVED more than words can say!

This book is a stand-alone.
There are some times that may be considered dark with dubious consent of multiple partners. The reason I say may be; those times are mostly all fade to black. I'm not sure as one reader to another the triggers each individual has.
This book is told in Vikki, Tori, and Victoria's POV. They're all the same person; just a different persona is out on to each person.
She ended up in a situation that at eighteen, no person could of seen coming.
Vikki had two choices
He responsible for the death of her stepfather who she could barely tolerate, but he was the father and main support to her two younger brothers and younger sister.
Or marry. Marry a man twenty years her senior who has wealth beyond her comprehension. She's never met this man and has no idea what he'll be like.
All she knows is that he's only proposing a business contract.
What she finds out later is his voyeurism has lots of plans for her.
From there things go into a twisted web of deceitful twists and turns.
The writing flowed and kept me turning the pages. I rooted and wished to kill other characters. I was dying to see how this all wrapped up...
Then it did. And I almost smashed my kindle.
That ending!! I'm so mad.
But I still loved the story.
This author's work is a hit and miss for me. But this one, I've already recommended to my book friends.
I loved this book, I even loved the fact that I was left wondering at the end, is it hers, is it his, is it theirs? I gave it 5 stars because I loved the story - of course, I haven't read anything Aleatha Romig has written yet that I didn't love. And as I understand it, the stars are to indicate how we feel about a story, personally, not how we judged the author's ability to write it. This review, then, is my personal opinion about Insidious.
The premise of this story was very different from anything I have read. I think I expected more thriller and less sex; but, given the basis of the story, the sex is to be expected.
An 18-year old, Victoria, is used to barter her step-father out of debt to men who would kill him, while she has spent her life being told she is responsible for her twin's death, and she is not enough, not enough to measure up to her sister or her step-brothers, not smart enough, not graceful enough, not anything enough. But she is enough to buy her step-father out of trouble by marrying a much older man who will take care of the debt.
Then there are the twists and turns in Victoria's personal life, in her husband's sexual life, and in her life following her husband's sudden death. Then, just as circumstances appear to provide her with "a normal life," as she would call it, we have the shower scene. What will happen next? We don't know and won't know unless Ms. Romig changes her mind and decides to write a sequel. But according to her "Thank You" at the end of the book, that is not going to happen.
If you like romance/thrillers with a twist, you should love this book. Enjoy. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
